Sahara Widoff is a designer, sculptor, curator and conceptional director based in Stockholm and Paris. In Sahara's work, there is often a story to draw on. A fantasy scenario or an opposite relationship, a sense of the weight and history of the objects and political context. Widoff is interested in how each room carries its own poetry, how places adapt and transform or become distorted by the people who lived there. Sahara enjoys working with the open exhibition spaces mirrored towards more intimate, enclosed spaces, secret spaces waiting to be discovered and opened. The feeling of different materials and how they can be transformed is what attracts her the most. Light and movement is often the basis of the installations she creates. She has worked with a wide range of clients, mostly in design and in the art world, mainly as a furniture and interior designer but also as a production designer with various forms of large-scale installations and arrangements for museums, galleries, theaters and film. Among her assignments is also one eight-year collaboration with Acne Studios as creative director and conceptual director. Among other clients in fashion and design companies Sahara has a number of longer collaborations with Alexander McQueen, Rodebjer, H&M, Milano furniture fair, and magazines as Purple and Vogue. Widoff creates exhibition scenarios, concepts and Installations for, among others, Kulturhuset, Frieze art fair, Guggenheim, Nobel Prize Museum, Jewish Museum and is currently working towards Liljevalch Art Gallery with a large transdisciplinary exhibition in 2022.
